Welcome to Storygeny, a platform where creativity thrives through collaborative storytelling. Whether crafting a heartfelt love confession, a suspenseful mystery, or a light-hearted comedy, your voice matters. These guidelines ensure Storygeny remains safe, respectful, and fun for everyone. By using Storygeny, you agree to follow these rules for public Cards and private messages.
1. General Conduct
- Be respectful: Treat fellow storytellers with kindness. No harassment, hate speech, threats, or personal attacks.
- Write responsibly: You’re part of a community. Think before posting, especially in public or semi-public Relays.
- Respect boundaries: Don’t spam or send unwanted messages, and only invite others to private stories if they’d welcome it.
- Collaborate with care: In Relay mode, co-create respectfully, building on others’ work.
2. Content Guidelines
a. What’s Allowed
- Original Cards — text, media, or voice — that add to the story’s creativity.
- Cards exploring emotional, personal, or imaginative themes respectfully.
- Humor, satire, and awkward moments, as long as they’re not harmful or offensive.
b. What’s Not Allowed
- Hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory content (based on race, gender, religion, orientation, etc.).
- Threats, bullying, or incitement to violence.
- Pornography or sexually explicit content (mature themes must be handled responsibly).
- Graphic violence or gore.
- Promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
- Impersonation or misrepresentation.
- Spam, ads, or commercial solicitations.
- Plagiarism — Cards must be your original work or used with permission.
3. Privacy & Consent
- Never share private information (your own or others’) in a Card or message without consent.
- Do not post media (photos, videos, audio) including someone else without their permission.
- In Private mode, respect the confidentiality of the story and its contributors.
4. Story Modes & Visibility
Your story’s visibility depends on its mode:
Mode | Who Can See It | Who Can Add Cards |
---|---|---|
Relay | Anyone on Storygeny | Only invited participants (next storyteller chosen) |
Private | Only invited users | Only users you specifically invite |
Semi-Public | Anyone on Storygeny | Approved users only |
Public | Anyone on Storygeny | Anyone can join and contribute |
Solo | Everyone on Storygeny | Only you |
Ensure your Cards are appropriate for the audience of each mode.
5. Reporting & Moderation
- Use the “Report” option next to a Card or message to flag violations.
- Our team will review reports and take appropriate action.
- We may remove content, restrict visibility, or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.
6. Tips for Great Story Cards
- Stay in tone: Match the style and emotion of the Relay.
- Keep it tight: A strong Card moves the story forward or adds a twist.
- Be inclusive: Consider how your post may be received by a diverse global audience.
- Inspire the next voice: Leave room for others to build on your ideas.
